Biden drops out of presidential race after Democratic uprising, endorses Kamala Harris

In a shocking turn of events, President Joe Biden has announced his decision to suspend his 2024 re-election campaign amid rising pressure from within the Democratic Party. Following a poor debate performance last month, numerous Democratic lawmakers urged Biden to step aside.

Biden, 81, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president,” Biden stated in a public letter. He emphasized his belief that Harris is the right choice to lead the party and defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

The endorsement has quickly received support from top Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer praised Biden for prioritizing the nation and the party over personal ambition.

In contrast, former President Trump criticized Biden’s decision, questioning his fitness to serve. Biden’s announcement concludes a long political career, marked by nearly four decades in the Senate, eight years as Vice President, and his presidency. The focus now shifts to Harris as she prepares to lead the Democratic Party into the 2024 election.
